Seville” the city which Georges Bizet used as the setting for that famous opera “Carmen”" is one of Spain’s most important tourist destinations. Not only is it a big city” having a metropolitan area of 1.4 million” but it is also a historic one: The Arabs made it the capital of their Umayyad caliphate. Here are a few of the city’s best restaurants, hotels, tourist attractions, and places to go for entertainment.

The Corral del Agua is one of the city’s best restaurants. It began in the 1700s, when Seville’s Jewish district was at its most splendid. The tables, plants, and windows make it a beautiful place to eat. They serve many distinctive Spanish dishes, including cream of gazpacho with garnish and “stewed oxtails in the style of Andalusia.”

The Oasis Backpackers’ Palace Seville is one of the cheapest places with a historic setting (an old palace). Breakfast is served free, and there is a bar on the rooftop.

The Museo del Baile Flamenco is dedicated to Spain’s national dance; they offer free shows each night. Soccer is also played at the FC stadium, near Plaza Nervion.

The Palacio de la Condesa de Lebrija is “Europe’s best paved house- palace.”
